Today will be the first Vernon council meeting since the death of councillor Bob Spiers.
Spiers died two weeks ago of an apparent heart attack after attending council meetings through the day.
Mayor Akbal Mund will note Spiers’ passing at this afternoon’s meeting, with a minute of silence to follow.
The 71 year old Spiers had been on council for 10 years, and was best known for sticking-up for taxpayers.
With the next election just a few months away, a by-election to fill his seat won’t be held, meaning council will operate with six members until then.
