Saturday proved to be a record breaking day for SilverStar Mountain Resort with the public opening of its new gondola.
The resort’s Wesla Wong says there were more than 5 thousand visitors to the mountain.
`Some of the things that people said included the smell of the new gondola was something that was pretty neat as well as the weather really worked out
so it was just all around a great day with all the free kids activities.
Wesla says it provides a new experience compared to the old chair lift.
“You really do get to enjoy the ride because it’s a like a 360 degree view rather than a chair lift where you really are facing one direction but if you’re on the gondola and you can sit and enjoy the 360 degree view versus the chairlift where you’re constantly facing one way.”
Many people commented on how smooth and comfortable the ride is.
The party wasn’t just about free rides, it was about free food too.
“We served maybe around 3500 people at the barbecue and 2500 cupcakes, 500 pieces of cake.”
A dunk tank set up in the village also raised 500 dollars for charity.
