Two Vernon women were injured in a serious, two-vehicle crash in Lake Country on Thursday evening and the RCMP are seeking witnesses.
RCMP and ambulance crews were called to the scene of the collision between a brown Buick Century sedan and a red Dodge pickup on Highway 97, at the intersection of Oceola Road, around 5:30 p.m.
The driver and sole occupant of the Buick, an 18-year-old female, suffered serious injuries which police say are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to hospital for treatment.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 57-year-old woman, was also transported to hospital suffering from what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
Police say her dog, who was also inside the pickup, was examined by a veterinarian and is seemingly uninjured.
“Although no independent witnesses to the crash remained at the scene, our investigators believe that the driver the red Dodge pickup truck was northbound on the highway when it collided with the brown Buick sedan travelling east through the intersection on Oceola Road,” said Corp. Jesse O’Donaghey, RCMP spokesperson.
If you witnessed the crash and have not yet spoken to police or have dash camera footage that captures the collision or a portion of the collision, you are urged to contact the Lake Country RCMP at 250-766-2288.
