There are many reasons to go meatless, whether it be for animal rights, economic reasons, or to be better to the environment. In fact, there seems to be a debate that always comes up between meat eaters and vegetarians. I’m not saying that I never eat meat, but I do try and incorporate more leafy greens into my diet. You’ve heard that saying, “eat food, not too much, mostly plants.”
Maybe it’s the fact that I do eat meat that this creeps me out, but I think it’s more the fact that if you’re a vegetarian, you don’t want your vegetarian meal to look like, well, meat…do you?
Enter the grilled watermelon.

Ducks Eatery is a smokehouse and bar in New York and one menu item is getting a lot of attention online, the smoked watermelon ham. The restaurants Instagram page says that they process the melon similar to how they process hams…but it’s vegetarian.
I’m not turning my nose up at it….I’m just wrapping my head around the fact that it’s a watermelon…that looks like a smoked ham.
Would you try it?!
