You may see RCMP officers and others in the downtown core over the next hour or so rummaging around bushes and buildings.
They’re involved in a used needle pickup program the Upper Room Mission is starting.
RCMP Constable Kelly Brett and Superintendent Shawna Baher posted a video on the Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP’s Facebook page to talk about it and send a message.
“We’re looking forward to being a part of these initiatives. But we wanted to tell everybody there’s a challenge coming. Stay tuned. We are looking forward to being a part of the community and cleaning up the downtown core to make this a safer place for everybody to be. Stay tuned.”
We don’t know yet how many needles they’ve found
