Am I ever going to see blue sky again? That’s what a lot of B.C. is thinking, but it’s not just us…our friends to the South are suffering as well. It’s been hard to enjoy the last few weeks of summer with the constant haze, but a Spokane resident seems to have a solution…just not for us.
Caleb Moon is one of the people hosting an event on Facebook called “Blow Spokane’s Smoke Away to Canada” and well, the purpose of the group is pretty self explanatory. 15000 people are “going” to this event that is slated to take place on August 24th. The event details are as follows:
“There are roughly 550,000 residents of the Spokane, Washington metropolitan area (per worldpopulationreview.com). To get rid of this smoke, we have to work together as a community. After much deliberation and mathematical calculation, we have figured that it is absolutely possible for us to blow this smoke away with high powered fans. This Friday, every resident must place at least 5 box fans on their roof. Turn your fans on to the highest setting, and aim them toward northeastern Canada. Team work makes the dream work. Let’s do this, Spokanites. Let’s send this smoke right back to those Canucks!
Make sure to share the event with all your friends so everyone is informed!”
I should probably add that there is a disclaimer before the text that reads “Warning…strong satire below.” Still…I like the ingenuity of this, it’s much better than the Facebook group that wants to throw rocks at the smoke…
