Increased fire activity yesterday in the Nechako/Fraser Lake/Tweedsmuir complexes due to gusty conditions in the central north west of BC combined with a general northwesterly air flow has resulted in transport of a significant smoke plume to the southeast and a return to smoky conditions for many areas as far south as the north Okanagan.
The Smoky Skies Bulletin issued yesterday has been amended to reflect the potentially affected areas. The Castlegar area and the Keremeos/Oliver/Osoyoos area remain in the Bulletin as a result of smoke from local wildfires.
Dease Lake has been removed from the Bulletin due to decreased fire activity in the area. See the map and advisory text for more details: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/environment/air-land-water/air/air-quality/air-advisories
The next Bulletin update will be on Sunday September 2nd.
