North Okanagan Minor Lacrosse is looking for a home to play its games and practices.
Association President Kari Gares told Vernon council, they’ve been using the arena in Armstrong since the Civic Arena’s floor was deemed unsafe to play on a few years ago.
The group is asking to use the new Kal Tire North during the summers.
“We want to be able to hold future tournaments, including, but not limited to, provincials, and the ability to further develop Canada’s national sport.”
Gares says year-round demand for ice time by hockey, leaves their teams having to go to Armstrong for games and practices, and she made this request about Kal Tire North:
“Take the ice immediately out after the official hockey season has ended, and provide the lacrosse association, and other user groups, an opportunity to hold other functions, tournaments, including provincials.”
Gares says two profit groups, Pursuit of Excellence and Training House, could use the Priest Valley Arena in the summers.
City staff will look into the group’s concerns
