Did someone tap them together? ‘Cause Dorothy’s slippers have found their way home..
After disappearing 13 years ago, a stolen pair of ruby red slippers worn by Judy Garland in the 1939 film classic “The Wizard Of Oz” has been recovered in a sting operation. It all happened after a man approached the shoes’ insurer and said he could help get them back. Grand Rapids police asked for the FBI’s assistance and recovered the shoes this summer.
Known as the Holy Grail of Hollywood memorabilia, the slippers were on loan to the Judy Garland Museum, located in the late actress’ hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Insured for one million dollars, they were stolen in 2005 by someone who climbed through a window and broke into a small display case.
