Personally, I like daylight savings time. I know it doesn’t actually make the day longer…but for someone who suffers from seasonal affect disorder, I think it helps, especially around November when it starts to get dark at roughly 3pm.
Well, if you don’t agree with me you might be happy with this news. On Friday, Union of B.C. Municipalities delegates voted to end daylight savings time. Now, it doesn’t mean anything will happen, but Premier John Horgan did say the province will consult with other jurisdictions before making a decision.
Some delegates said that daylight savings doesn’t serve a purpose anymore, while others argue that working in the dark is a safety hazard, particularly for those who work outside.
The resolution was approved 52.3% to 47.7%. So it looks like we are still pretty divided on the issue. Oh and if you were wondering, we turn the clocks back on November 4th this year.
