Coldstream Mayor Jim Garlick says the District had a some interesting meetings with environment and agriculture ministry staff at the UBCM Convention this month.
One item that came up was manure management on farms and its effect on ground water.
The government is about to come out with new regulations.
“The way that manure is spread on ground, when it can be spread on the ground so that it’s not spread out on frozen ground, which we’ve had difficulties with.”
Another regulation will require a registered professional biologist to determine the appropriate levels of manure than can be spread.
