It’s back to the drawing board for upgrades to Hurlburt Park on the west side of Okanagan Lake.
Improvements were expected to take place this year but a single contractor bid on the project was significantly over budget.
“We were unsuccessful in trying to negotiate with the bidder to bring it onto budget, and so, I think we’re doing the right thing by separating it into multiple components and re-tendering it. that’s the right strategy.”
Councillor Brian Quiring expressed regret the work was not done this past summer.
“I am disappointed. I mean the trees have come down. people want to use the park. They’re having to park on the road because you can’t get into the park with a vehicle.”
Staff plan to reissue a tender this fall with a completion date of May 20th, 2019.
