The City of Armstrong is starting to see interest from home owners in developing carriage homes on their property.
Council has received applications from two home owners on Fletcher Avenue and Jarvis Street for carriage homes.
Mayor Chris Pieper says it’s significant because when the city asked for submissions in the past, no one came forward.
“We thought it would take off a lot quicker than it did, but it didn’t. And here it is, two applications at the same council meeting, so you never know.”
He hopes to see more of it.
“It’s a real affordable situation that allows people housing and makes it affordable. It’s one of the initiatives that many communities have sought.
Pieper says the applicants have met all the guidelines and will now apply for building permits.
