The fourth Annual Lumby Food Drive is being held this Wednesday night from 5 to 8 pm in Lumby and Lavington.
“The emergency services team we work with all step up every year to support families that need a hand and this food drive supports the Food Bank with resources until the Spring,” says organizer Gary McLaughlin, an RCMP constable in Lumby, who says he personally has grown up as a food bank family.
The Lumby Food Bank supports 70 families from Lavington to Cherryville.
“We will be going door to door, asking families to leave non perishable food items, and even cash donations, which were finding is becoming more and more common,” says McLaughlin in an interview with Beach Radio News.
McLaughlin says it’s the big food drive of the year in Lumby.
“This will support the food bank for six months. The need going into Thanksgiving and further in the Christmas season has never been greater.”
