People continue to put money into the City of Vernon’s kindness meters.
Five of the orange-coloured meters were installed in 2016 to give people a way to help local charities, instead of giving money to panhandlers.
The city says donations totalling $637 have been put in the meters so far this year, with $1,993 donated all of last year.
The city says the meters have not been a common target of theft.
“Meter thefts occur periodically throughout the year but we have not seen trends,” says City communications officer Nick Nilsen.
