One of the Vernon mayoralty candidates has picked up a high profile endorsement.
Tom Christensen, a lawyer, and former two term Liberal MLA for Vernon and BC cabinet minister, is backing Darrin Taylor’s candidacy.
“I’ve known and worked with Darrin for over 20 years. He is an honest, dependable, visionary leader who is engaged in his community and gets things done, said Christensen. “Vernon is facing challenges that can only be solved with bold ideas, common sense, and the leadership to
make difficult decisions. Darrin Taylor is the mayor Vernon needs. I encourage the citizens of Vernon to vote for Darrin Taylor for Mayor.”
Taylor says he is honoured and at Christensen’s support.
“He is a well respected lawyer and former politician, and I will do my best to live up to his trust.”
Christensen was elected a MLA for Okanagan-Vernon in 2001, and won a second term in 2205.
During his term in office he served as BC’s Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation, as Minister of Education, and as Minister of Children and Family Development as part of the Gordon Campbell Liberal governments.
Taylor is one of three candidates running for mayor, along with Victor Cumming, Art Gourley and Erik Olesen.
