Okay, this is kinda interesting…
We all know that going a little overboard on booze can come with a BUNCH of consequences the next day. But if your symptoms include a sore neck, one physical therapist has the answer why; dehydration.
According to Matt Huey, “You can feel sore the next day due to mild dehydration from the alcohol. Taking that water from the connective tissue makes it harder to move. The neck is especially prime to be sore from the dehydration, and the discs are not able to move as well,” he tells Elite Daily. Huey says if your neck is really hurting, you’ll want to give your body plenty of rest, and keep your neck relaxed (no stretching) until the discomfort subsides.
Your sore neck could also be the result of sleeping in a less-than-ideal position – another common oops after a night of liquid celebration – and experts in that particular category suggest spending extra time in a hot shower or in a hot bath to help with the discomfort.
OR, at the end of the day, maybe try this……don’t drink so much. Pull a Kim Mitchell every now and then, it ain’t that bad. 🙂 ~ Jason
