Apple of my eye or maybe in this case apple of my two hands! Would you look at the size of these apples. I stacked a normal size spartan apple on top of the over-sized honeycrisp, to give you an idea as well, to give you an idea of just how huge these apples were that we recently purchase.
This time of year apples are plentiful. What do you like to make with apples?.
Over the weekend my daughter’s and I made 2.5 dishes of Apple Crumble with just 6 apples, as they were that huge!
This is a simple but very delicious recipe of my Mom’s. Please pardon my chicken scratch writing! Ha Ha!
Mom’s Apple Crumble
Peel and slice up 5-7 apples
Sprinkle with 1/3 cup sugar, 1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 cup flour
1/3 cup butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp salt
Mix til crumbled.
Serve warm with creme, or milk or ice-cream
Make at 350 degrees 1/2 hour to 3/4 of an hour until apples are cooked.
