So we’re a week away from Halloween. Is there anyone in your family dressing up as a clown this year?????
I recently videod this rather ghoulish looking character on display and noticed that kids didn’t seem to be scared of it but rather just curious.
There’s actually a U.S. City that has banned clowns on Halloween? City officials in Oak Park, Michigan have banned people dressed as clowns from attending the city’s annual Boo Bash because they’re too scary. Notices for the party say kids are invited to wear their favorite costume, but “clown costumes are not allowed.” An official in charge of the event says that in recent years many clown costumes have been given a very scary and evil look and that prompted the ban. The Daily Maily reports that Recreation Director Laurie Stasiak stated, “This event is centered around young children. In the past few years many clown costumes have been given a very scary and evil look. Many scary and horror movies are centered around these types of characters. About 3 years [ago] there were national incidents in the news where people were dressing up as clowns and scaring people and in some cases assaulting them. Many people have phobias and anxiety about clowns. It’s because of this that we asked people not to dress up as clowns for this community event.” The event is expected to draw thousands and last year saw 5,000 attendees. (Daily Mail)
