Millennials care about vacation, a lot. A new survery by Contiki, a travel booking platform that caters to millennials (ages 18 to 35), found 80 percent of millennials say they would give up Netflix, 73 percent said they would give up alcohol, and 57 percent say they would give up sex for travel.
This isn’t new news though, findings by Expedia Media Solutions reported millennials travel the most of any other generation (35 days per year, while Gen Z travels 29 days, and baby boomers travel 27 days.) So why is this generation so addicted to travel? A lot of young people say that it transforms them, something they don’t get in their day to day life.
Lisa Marie Bobby, founder of Growing Self Counseling and Coaching, explains, “People feel locked into a job and a routine that they just show up and do and it isn’t really meaningful. When they are able to be their real selves is when they’re outside of that day-to-day system.”
So how about you? Would you give up Netflix, drinking, or sex to be able to travel?
