A man accused of assaulting three police officers at Vernon’s Canadian Wholesale Club, has been released from custody with conditions.
Police say a man became violent when he was asked to leave the site on 34th Street on Monday.
“A Vernon North Okanagan RCMP officer attempted to speak with the male, however when doing so the male became violent with the officer and a struggle ensued. During the altercation, the suspect male allegedly attempted to disarm the officer and produced a knife and bear spray. A multiple unit response was required and two officers were injured in the execution of the arrest,” says Cst. Kelly Brett
Brett says three officers were assaulted, and two were injured.
“Even after being injured, the responding officer was able to retain his weapon, keep himself, along with the public safe and take the male into custody.”
27 year old Kyle Larue of no fixed address, is facing numerous charges related to this incident including assault with a weapon, attempt to disarm a police officer, assault police officer, resist arrest, obstruct police officer, possess a weapon for a purpose dangerous to public
Larue appeared before a Justice on Wednesday and was released from custody on a recognizance with numerous conditions and a future court date.
