Lake Country council has given the green light to moving ahead with borrowing money for a new fire hall in Winfield.
Voters approved a referendum to borrow up to 6.6 million dollars for the facility by a margin of 1724 t0 1026 last month.
The District says council gave final approval for the loan authorization bylaw Tuesday night, which now goes to the province for final approval.
The total cost of the project is 9 million dollars with the rest of the money coming the sale of the existing firehall site, and from reserves.
The average homeowner will pay 90 dollars a year for 20 years.
The site for the new building at Okanagan Centre Road East and Jardines Road was purchased in 2008.
