Usually the Christmas baking doesn’t start for another few weeks, but on Friday the office was loaded with cookies and butter tarts and a sad attempt at rice crispy squares. To be fair it was the start day for Cookies for Kids (which are now available at Swan Lake Nurseryland) and it was also someones birthday, but I have a feeling it’s not going to slow down until after the holidays, and maybe that’s a good thing.
A study by the University of Otago in New Zealand, that’s not necessarily new but still holds true, says that baking can actually benefit your mental health. The research showed that keeping oneself busy with things like knitting, painting, or creative writing was found to be “a means of cultivating positive psychological functioning.”
And it’s not the first time scientists have linked cooking and well being, they say that those with anxiety and ADHD can greatly benefit from baking, as it is a therapeutic tool. So…what are you baking?
