The holiday season officially starts this weekend — and that’s also when Vernon- North Okanagan RCMP start their annual safety campaign.
Counter Attack road checks begin Saturday and will continue into the new year, looking for drivers impaired by drugs or alcohol.
“December 1st, 2018 marks the start of the provincial, month-long CounterAttack impaired driving campaign which includes the National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day and a one-day provincial blitz when motorists can expect to see a heightened police presence in many areas of the province targeting impaired drivers,” says Cst. Kelly Brett.
Brett says the number of people killed in impaired- crashes each year has significantly dropped with 40 years of Counterattack.
She advises revelers to use designated drivers, taxis, transit or a driving service to get around safely.
“Let’s all do our part for a safe holiday season – drive sober,” says Brett.
