You might cringe when you hear someone call their partner “sugar boots”, but a new study shows that pet names typically signify a strong relationship between lovers. That’s according to research done by Superdrug Online Doctor, which surveyed 1,026 respondents to gauge their perceptions of pet names, or terms of endearment, in relationships
Among those polled, couples who used pet names were more likely to be satisfied in their relationships than those who didn’t use them. Under the right circumstances (and with the right nicknames in mind), pet names aren’t just a cute way to get your partner’s attention – they can be a sign you’ve gotten comfortable enough with each other to develop a love language.
