Do you buy a kit to make a gingerbread house or are you a little more creative than that?. Melanie(I like her name) King has a flair for baking and she recently made this amazing gingerbread house. It’s actually a replica of my friend Nancy’s house. She made it for a recent festive gathering.

If you’re looking for a terrific Gingerbread Cake recipe, you have to try my Mom’s recipe for it with lemon sauce
1 cup white sugar
1 cup molasses
1 cup salad oil (Canola light suggested)
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp salt
Place in a bowl and beat well.
Add 2 cups flour and beat well. Dissolve 2 level tsps soda in 2 tbsp warm water and mix into batter. Lastly add 1 cup boiling water. Beat lightly and quickly. Pour into a greased and floured 9″ x 13″ pan and bake 45-50 minutes at 350. Serve warm with lemon sauce
Combine in a saucepan
1/2 cup sugar
3 tbsp flour
1 tsp grated lemon rind
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/4 cup boiling water
Cook stirring constantly over medium heat until thickened.
Blend in 3 tbsp lemon juice.
2 tbsp butter or margarine
Makes 1 & 1/2 cups
Can also cook in microwave about 6 minutes at 9. Stir at 3 minute intervals.
