Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Okanagan, South Thompson and Nicola regions.
Strong southerly winds are expected to develop this morning and increase to 50 km/h, with gusts to 80 this afternoon.
Once a low pressure system moves on, the winds will ease to around 30 to 50 km/h.
There is also winter storm warnings in effect including for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt
Rain mixed with snow will fall today which will change to heavy snow this evening.
Total snowfall amounts from 15 to 25 cm can be expected by Friday morning.
The Trans-Canada from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass is expected to get up to 30 cm’s by Friday morning.
