How do I sum up ten plus years, various positions, friendships formed, mentors gained, mistakes made, and thousands of memories into a few paragraphs? Just one sentence in and I start to cry, because it is so bitter sweet to be leaving the place that shaped not only my career, but so much of my life as well. If you haven’t heard, I’m moving to Kamloops, which means I will no longer be waking up with you at 6 am to start your day, although it has been my honour to do so.
To say I’ve grown up at this radio station wouldn’t be a lie, I started when I was 14 or 15 (we’re still not sure) as an events crew member and worked my way through almost every position in the building. I went travelling, I came back. I went to broadcasting school, I came back. I went travelling again…and I came back again. Something tells me I will be back here someday, but for now it’s on to new adventures, so I hope you will wish me luck.
It’s been hard saying goodbye to my co-workers, but today is my final day on air and I’m realizing that it is just as hard to say goodbye to the community that allows me into their homes each morning. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, I will miss this place and even more so the people who call it home.
Sincerely, Jen Bailey
